Japanese Organic Bancha Green Tea
In Stock From £4.10
Fuller in flavour than some other Japanese green teas, this Organic Bancha has a rich earthy taste sometimes described as woody.
Aromatic, easy to brew, refreshing to drink and relatively low in caffeine, Bancha is consumed in daily Japanese life much the same way that water or juice is drunk in other cultures.
Bancha is also a good source of Vitamin A, niacin, iron and calcium, and makes a wonderful tea for any time of day - it goes well with food and is ideal for refreshing the palete between courses and before or after meals. It is also a good choice for ochazuke (tea poured over rice accompanied by Japanese pickled vegetables).
PREPARATION
Place 3g (1tsp) of tea per person in a pot or cup infuser. Using boiling water to steep green tea can damage the leaves, so instead use water that is around 80°c (boiling water that has been allowed to cool for 2 minutes). Brew for 3 - 5 minutes according to taste. The same leaves can be re-used for up to 3 infusions.
